2018 Easter Tournament Report
The 2018 Easter Tournament was a great success – gorgeous Autumnal weather and a strong turnout contributed to three days of competitive tennis at Royal Kings Park Tennis Club.
Tennis was played on all of the grass courts, with the historical Members Pavilion the central meeting point for signing in throughout the day. Many thanks to Claudio and staff from Next Generation for providing the mobile café, bar and catering options during the tournament.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the annual Easter Bake-Off Competition on Saturday 31 March Entries were on display in the Pavilion and available for tasting throughout the day.
Thank you also to Tim Wilkinson, Club Vice-President for organising the Bake-off and to Barbara Frankland, Junee MacDonald and Carla Wharepouri for tasting, testing and judging the entries.
Cathy Chappell took first place again this year with her spectacular ‘Souffra’. In second place was Evelyne LeCourt who presented a stunning Fruit, Cream and Easter Coconut Cake and third prize went to Wendy Doyle and her beautiful Pistachio Slice. Photographs of the entries can be seen here.
We also have two special mentions:
Rosemary Thomkinson for her Lemon Cake
Janet Stead for her Chocolate Cake
Congratulations to all.
A great time was had by all at the Casual Supper and Ceilidh on Sunday night. Everyone hit the floor to show off their dance moves to The Jarrah Celts who led the Ceilidh with great style. A big thank you to Chef Gina Wass from Next Generation, who provided the catering. Photographs of the night can be seen here.
The presentation for winners and runners up, raffle draws and Lucky Door Prize were all announced at the end of the Finals on Monday 2 April. The Members Pavilion was packed full as RKPTC President Bruno Camarri played Master of Ceremonies.
The Lucky Draw Prize always generates great excitement, and the winners this year were:
Leanne Davy: $1000.00
