Opening Day – 14 October 2017
It was also great to see our non playing club members turning up and joining us for afternoon tea, catching up with friends, showing off their new babies, and watching the tennis. It is always encouraging to have our members enjoy the day and the club spirit even if they are not playing.
A thank you to our guests for the day, Richard Hardy from Next Gen, proud father watching his son play, Karen Jessop from Tennis West who donated a Tennis West Gift for our Opening Day, and Michael Sutherland and his partner Michelle who also joined us for the evening function. The evening Dinner Dance proved a hit for all those who attended, great food again from Gina, and our fabulous DJ Sabrina singing over the dance tracks and getting the crowd going. The dance floor was packed in response, with some good moves from our secretary Joe, Michelle, Jean with Barry (easily led) Nazer and Evelyn livening up the floor, and we even had Tatsuya up and moving to the groove.
A big thanks to all those who helped organise the day, and a special thank you to Brad Prisov our new curator, who gave up his Saturday morning to come out and re-mark our courts following Friday nights thunder storm. Brad is doing a good job getting our courts into shape, don’t forget to say hi to him if you see him around the club, and make him feel welcome.
Our resident roving photographers Sacha and Remie have collated some shots of the day which you can see below.
I hope you all enjoy the summer’s tennis.”
